Don't know whether this helps,
I have an Ikoflex 852/16. 8 O'clock is the shutter speed set,. The 
shutter cocking lever is below the lens (to cock, move to the left, when 
seen from the front), and the film counter only works when the camera is 
loaded. The shutter release is locked until you transport the film.
