I am shocked that our literate and well-informed number have not recited
John Ford's dictum that, "[W]hen the legend becomes fact, print the
legend." See his 1962 vehicle, THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALENCE, one of
the really grand Western movies, for a rather vibrant example. And it has
a cast which will not stop -- Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne, Lee Marvin, Vera
Miles, Woody Stroud, Andy Devine ... and even John Carradine and Lee Van
Cleef. Who could ask for more?

The Agincourt tale is bogus, of course. The raised middle-finger insult
dates from at least Classical times -- we have grafitti from Pompeii
showing this -- and probably goes back to the Bronze Age.
