Hi Philippe,

The stubble in the fields used to be burned off in late summer but now it is
left and the next crop is planted in amongst it. The justification for burn
off used to be the control of pests but some days it was like a total
eclipse of the sun. Sometimes made worse by a few sparks migrating to fields
of uncut grain. Complaints from the Fire Service and the general public may
have given cause to a rethink the effectiveness of such a procedure.

Thanks for looking.
