Ted:

>(well I still don't have a clue about RAW, so be it)

Real World Camera Raw with Adobe Photoshop CS2 (Paperback)
by Bruce Fraser
ISBN: 0321334094

If you don't have Photoshop CS2, I'd recommend upgrading. The raw workflow
with cs2 is simply amazing. I moved from version 3 to cs2. Talk about
night and day. :)

The great thing about shooting raw is that you're not limited to what your
camera thought was the right color temperature at the time of exposure. You
can also have more dynamic range than shooting jpeg. You can easily recover
a *slightly* blown highlight. The data just isn't there in a jpeg to do
that.

Adobe Camera Raw makes it so easy to process raw files, I can't imagine
wanting to shoot jpeg for any reason.
