I guess Cosina didn't make an appearance? Jeffery Smith New Orleans, LA http://www.400tx.com -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+jsmith342=cox.net@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+jsmith342=cox.net@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Chris Williams Sent: Sunday, February 26, 2006 6:14 PM To: Leica Users Group Subject: [Leica] PMA report Fuji had a great gallery of Fuji prints from film. 20x24's from Fuji 800, Neopan 1600, etc. Ilford was there, but very limited and only having inkjet paper brochures. There was mention of Lucky(China) film in the PMA book, but I found no booth. Sorry, I did not go to the Kodak booth. Zeiss was not there, so no chance of getting to see cameras or lenses. Rollei and Minox both had booths, Rollei showing the Tele-Rolleiflex. Yes, Canon showed of new printers and the D30. Reps swore the new Canon printers will leave Epson in the dust. I actually had that same conversation with 2 Canon reps about 4 yrs ago so the dust has not showed yet :) Nikon had D200's on display as well as the new NX software(which appears very PS-like). Looks much improved over Capture. Leica had a very small booth but showed MP,s, M7's and the DMR. One photographer was showing allot of very impressive DMR photos. I got to try the 75/2 Summicron. Word is the digital M will be shown at Photokina. - let's hope! Crumpler bags were shown, nice to be able to see all the bags in one place. There's a new protoype bag slighty larger than the 7 Million Dollar home, allowing room for a laptop. Lensbabies had a huge crowd the whole time I was there. Epson's new line of printers were impressive. I was finally able to see 2400 and 4800 BW prints. No sign of color casts anymore! Also Epson showed of the new line of professional scanners able to scan at 6400dpi. Rumor was they had a "improved" RD1, but the camera was no where to be found. Panasonic probably had the best show of cameras allowing users to shoot a revolving display to play with the features of all the cameras. All in all, it was not a huge PMA showing though it was nice to see some people I knew from New Orleans. Leica rep Rob Logan was there, first time I've seen him since July 2005.
