Leica Camera AG announced today [ Feb. 24, 2006] that it had signed a
memorandum of understanding with Matsushita Industrial Company, Ltd. of
Japan to
continue cooperating on digital cameras, as in past years. It decribed its
joint efforts as "optical technology."
Leica added that they do no intend to invest in each other's stock or to

Dear Leica friends,
Leica Camera AG (ISIN DE000A0EPU98/ISIN DE000A0EPU72), Solms, and
Matsushita
Electric Industrial Co. Ltd., Osaka/Japan, have signed a memorandum of
understanding on the continuation of their cooperation in the field of
optical
technology for digital still cameras on 24 February 2006. Both partners add
their respective know-how and create real synergies in producing cutting
edge
digital products. The major objectives include a further prolongation of
their
cooperation based on the successful fruits proven so far on the course of
cooperation in past years. Mutual shareholdings or further business
integration
are not intended.
