Subject: [Leica] Early 50 Summilux

Many thanks to those who informed me on and off list about this lens. It
seems to be exactly what it seems to be. The literature didn't indicate this
but several LUG members independently told me the same thing. It is probably
a 1959 version 1 black Summilux. The early black Summilux lenses were known
to be made in mixed finishes (black paint and anodized) and the earliest
ones had an all brass bayonet mount while the next to oldest (like mine) had
a chrome plated one. The lens seems to be somewhat collectable and worth an
elevated price. I will keep it for now and see how it performs as the glass
in it is pristine.

Thanks to all.
