Subject: [Leica] Leica IIIf black dial help

I recently picked up a IIIf black dial body which I am currently 
replacing the curtains in. The flash sync dial is somewhat difficult to 
turn and I was wondering how to remove it from the top plate without 
causing damage?
I don't want to force it for fear of damaging the top plate.
