I'm with Ted on this one...that's not sailing weather y'all are talking 
about and photographing

IMHO, clothing worn while sailing should be to protect one from the strong 
sun of the tropics rather than rain and cold.

As a side note, and to bring it back on topic, I find skippers in proper 
conditions to be much more accommodating of photography:
