Steve,
No question a great moment photographed! I've seen dogs do this lots of 
times and it's like the moment of..."OK who's going to make the first move?"

They'll stand there sort of sizing each other up without a move, then it's 
wham there off chasing one another all over the beach.:-)

If one looks close enough in your picture it's no different than 
photographing humans... "it's the Eyes!"  And your photograph has caught 
their eyes perfectly at that moment . :-)
