We got back yesterday and had a wonderful 5 days in SF - just not long enough to do everything we wanted. We walked all over SF - including across the Golden Gate Bridge and back - up and down countless steep hills - and had many memorable meals. It did rain a good bit and it was the misty, blowing rain that makes it impossible to use an umbrella to keep dry. My 5D got a thorough soaking several times but continued to work. The best bargain we found was the transportation pass that allows you to travel on all of the trolleys, busses, streetcars, etc. for 7 days for $24. The best food was at the Swan Oyster Depot!
