Are you saying the DMR caused the problem with the R8?  I would doubt this 
to 
be the case.  If your R8 is under warranty then I would think it s repair at 
no cost a done deal.  If not under warranty, then repair at the cost of a 
new, 
or repair on the shutter.  Good Luck.
