(For some reason 8" refractor sticks in my mind, but I don't know much about telescopes.) The photographs show the Coast Range in the foreground, the Sierra Nevada in the background, and the San Joaquin Valley (where I grew up) in between. Amazing DOF for a long tele. Lots of interesting things are visible, but you have to look closely. It's not obvious where the pano series was taken, but it blows people away when I point out Half Dome. It's a really clear, crisp panoramic. I think they used a tripod. Just as impressive, the images were stitched the old fashioned way, in the darkroom. I've had the photograph (12"x48" silver print, not litho) for years. I wonder if you can still buy that particular print. DaveR -----Original Message----- From: Richard S. I agree with you. That Saturn shot is a real winner. "Astronomy Picture of the Day" has shown many Spitzer images but if you'd like to see more, checkout the following link for the latest results. http://www.spitzer.caltech.edu/spitzer/index.shtml You find all the released images at: http://www.spitzer.caltech.edu/Media/mediaimages/index.shtml >This shot, from the Cassini probe orbiting Saturn, should earn points from >Ted since it's shot from the shadow side. > >It's also a heck of an image. > ><http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/0512/thinring2_cassini_big.jpg> > >I saw this on Astronomy Picture of the Day - my default browser page.: > ><http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html> > >Adam > >_______________________________________________ >Leica Users Group. >See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information -- Regards, Dick Boston MA
