I've never seen an M4-P and just assumed that backs were like the others. I used to use the flash-shoe method. But I kept dropping the box-ends. I'm a little silly. I carry a roll of masking tape (about 1/2 inch) around with me. I write little notes on it and then transfer it from the base-plate to the roll when I've finished taking it. Then I rip off more tape and key it to the next roll I load. I don't really need it for reminding me what film is in the camera, I use so few types, but to key rolls to my notebook. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I'ld like to see an M4-P someday. I keep forgetting the distinguishing marks between M4-P and M4-2 etc. I lost track after the M5.
