Hi Kyle,
If you drill out the lens (use hammer and chisel because it's fixed) you
will see a compartment. On the top side of this compartment is a lever with
a kind of wheel on it: pull this firmly. Since the lever is the auto
override of the flash, the flash will pop forward (it's hidden behind the
window located next to the viewfinder)
Now it's easy: if you gently unscrew the flash in the clockwise direction,
you will see a little hinge that you have to open, et voil?: the battery
compartment.
But beware: do not turn the flash in the counter-clockwise direction, as
this will only change the focal length of the lens.
