Color is a distraction, we see the color of the dress, the green of the folaige, the red of the fire: we don't see the people as people living their own life. In B&W I can still see the young girls face caught in part smile, proud that her picture is being taken but also a little shy about why me. In B&W I see the grandmother working very hard at the fire, cooking the families beans.
