I agree. Actually, for the mass marketed stuff, I like Wild Turkey. But
there are single cask bourbons like Blanton's that are just remarkable, and
well worth seeking out.

Actually, for any Canadians on this list, there is a Canadian whiskey that
is made through a process combining that of bourbons (which are aged in new
oak for big vanilla notes) and some single malt scotches (like The Macallan)
which are aged in sherry barrels. This is called Forty Creek Barrel Select.
Unlike most Canadian whiskies, it is not cut with neutral spirits but is a
blend of 12 year old whiskies aged in new oak or old sherry barrels . It not
only is a first-rate tipple, but an incredible bargain, compared to the
prices of things like Blanton's or The Macallan.
