I suppose it depends on how much time you want to take on this decision. If there is a used one in your area of either size then I would get it. If Leica stock is rare in your area then the big one has been a constant companion of mine for years and that is what I would order. If weight is very important to you then Manfrotto makes a dandy little tripod with a fair ball head on it, probably around 30 Euro. Any of these will carry an M3 and 50.
