It is definitely the best kind of camera for my type of photography. But I have trouble shelling out $5K for a digital body. It is not the same as shelling out for a Leica film body, those were designed to last a lifetime. But a digital body? Unless there is a believable upgrade path, no way. I just bought a second-hand 1D Mark 2 for 1500 GBP ($2650) from a shop in Wales--it is currently waiting for me at a friend's apartment in London, where I will pick it up next week. That is the kind of price I am prepared to pay for a digital body, no more.
