Gib:

I choose to use the Leica 400mm for soccer, because I sold my Canon 
400mm 2.8 IS to pay for the DMR :-)

I was using it on a monopod and only firing one frame at a time.  At 
2fps, if you don't bet the shot right the first time, the next frame 
is a long time past the decisive moment.  I was also shooting at 
f2.8, which gives little depth of  field.
