No, that is not useful.

1) Put it on the body
2) Carefully remove it so that you don't cause rotation
3) Tighten it up as much as you can with a small screwdriver.

I used to have one in my M3 but took it back out. You have to pull out
the take-up spool anyway to reset the frame counter so it wasn't that
helpful. I still have one in my M2, but I'll probably be taking it out
as well. I missed a roll of film once (forgot to check the rewind knob
as I was advancing the first few frames). That doesn't happen with the
original way of loading film in M2's and M3's. I suppose it _could_
happen, but you'd have to be very unlucky.

But that only happened once.
