Mike,

Go to http://maps.google.com/ and in the search window, type in "saint john, 
new brunswick to scranton, pa" and you will have your answer, including 
routes and time.  The estimated time is ~14 hours for the 1100 km trip.  I 
don't know if this route would work for you, but check it out.  I have no 
presonal experience with that part of the country.
