"Makes virtually no sense" to someone who hopes, dreams, and/or actually
believes that film is going away anytime soon. Apparently, it made plenty
of sense to Zeiss, Hasselblad, and Cosina. From everything I've read
(and heard) so far, the demand for the new Zeiss M mount will exceed
initial production numbers/goals handily!! B&H is sold out of some of their
early stock of lenses and are busy taking orders. With the bodies clocking
in at appx. 35% less than the new MP it looks as if Leica's old nemesis has
resurfaced in a big way! A place holder?...possibly. A smart business
move...undoubtedly!!

BTW, it appears they will neither confirm or deny the future digital m
production but say the new glass will be fully compatible should it
happen...hmmmm?? So, if B.D.'s question is relevant...and Zeiss happens
to be first off the blocks, it might be "the nail that..." well you know, I
just
can't bring myself to type it :-(
