You are correct. A 50 on a full frame has the same DOF as a 50 on a  
APS (x1.5)
size sensor. It's the field of view that is cropped. So, with a x1.5  
mag factor your
50 shows the field of view of a 75, but has the DOF of a 50, which is  
not as shallow
as a true 75 on a full frame system.

If I wanted the FOV of a 50 on my APS (x1.5) camera I would have use  
a 35 (35x 1.5 = 52.5).
But I would still have the DOF characteristics of the 35.
