Nice post Doug. Enjoyable discussion. 

About the ways in which equipment matters I'd add that for me, it's more
than sharp lenses, reliability, etc. It's very much how a camera feels & how
I feel using it. Leicas tend to keep me awake and interested in
photographing. They help keep me "focused" on the job at hand and bring me
pleasure using them. In some ways, by their own high aesthetic value Leicas
stimulate me to make better images.
