Here are some photos from recent journies... the first is from trip to
New Jersey to see my son Nick... We visited Philly for too few hours and
then a couple days in the Big Apple -- all in the first week of May.

This past weekend Becky and I went to visit my father and stepmother in
Swea City, Iowa, where I spent the first 18 years of my life. I left
there the day after graduation to work as a gandy dancer (track laborer)
on the railroad in Washington and Montana. Swea City was a great place
to grow up but it makes me sad to visit it now. It is getting so run
down... it is shrinking and sagging like too much of rural Iowa can't
hole on to its yourg people Simply not enough good jobs. THe next time
there I plan to get to the top of the tallest grain elevator there and
get some shots. For those hither and yon, these shots will provide a
glimpse of the landscape of Iowa, which is much more diverse than I
depict here.
