As you know,  I don't take special care of my cameras, and the  only two 
dents: one to the fragile rewind knob on my 15 year old M6 (now  repaired) 
the 
other to now Nathan's CL which seems unavoidable with the  funny strap lug 
on 
that camera.  
 
I did incur a scratch on the M6 when at an air show, the wind  picked up a 
folding chair, snagged the strap of the M6 and flung it flat on its  back 
onto 
the tarmac. No other injury.   
 
So all three dings were strap related, which probably tells me  something.  
 
As for brassing, It looks like there is some patina now on the Black Chrome  
M6 after several thousand days of being carried everywhere.  My other M6,  
nearly the same age, but purchased last year is still without marks, and I 
use  
it the same way.   
 
I don't really mind brassing on a camera;  Lord knows, I have lots of  
"Patina" on me.
