i have no idea what you mean by this.

He needs old film of all ages because the chemical make-up of them was 
changed by the manufacturers over time, and by analyzing those changes he 
can build 
a database that allows comparison and dating. 

He would love to get hold of old photo paper as well, by the way.

This is important work for the future conservation and research of 
photography and the guy is a doctor of chemistry wqorking at the premier art 
museum in 
the country, or at least the most well endowed, so I think he knows what 
he's 
up to.
