[Leica] Metz and R8 fill question

Yes - I plan to pour through my R8 and flash instructions but I was 
wondering if someone can assist me..

Just got my R8 and Metz 32MZ3 talking through a SCA 3502 adapter.
Pretty sweet little (and strong) flash.

My goal is to shoot in aperture priority mode with TTL fill flash (flash 
of -1 to -2 stops).
Problem is that my R8 in "A" mode always wants to shoot at 1/250 as soon as 
the flash is ready.  SCA adapter is set to -1 compensation. Flash is set to 
"TTL".

What am I missing here?
