I take your point on the thistle - i'd have needed the tripod to get the shot. I did a few other angles. Mostly in this one I was drawn to the purples and the almost luminous quality that was happening. I could literally see it from thirty feet away! I tried a few alternate crops on the oats but the square version wasn't satisfactory. I could actually REMOVE the offending pods but the idea, frankly, offends me. It's like removing power lines - I can do it but doing it feels wrong.
