That said, like Chandos, I have found the E-1 noise level at 800 to be more than acceptable, and at 1600 to be usable. I just wish I had the really fast lenses. -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Nathan Wajsman Sent: Wednesday, April 13, 2005 1:26 PM To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] Olympus E-1 vs. Digilux II cmbrow@wm.edu wrote: > And just mildly to weigh in on the noise issue, I can count the number > of times that I've used film with an ISO rating over 400 in the past > 25 years on the fingers of both hands. For me the noise issue is a major one. I hate flash, and so when I was debating with myself whether I should upgrade from the Canon 10D to the 20D when that came out last fall, the fact that the 20D was much better at high ISOs like 800 or 1600 was a major factor in my decision. I am amazed by the quality I can achieve with this camera at ISO 1600. And yes, I frequently do need that speed, even with f1.4 lenses.
