Comparing apples to apples would have the 60 Elmar against the Yashica. I don't think anyone would say that the first Summicron is better than the current 50 F1.8 Canon. You might prefer the look but if you look at contrast and resolution the newer designs will win. Yashica Douglas I think Leica glass is not always and everywhere that superior like many might believe, but THIS difference's definitely too big. Nothing against Yashica - but I tend to believe that there's something wrong with your Elmar - or a problem with the combination of a macro-lens and R adapter on a Canon mount.
