Thanks, Rick:

I've seen the animation of going from digital to analogue and back, but 
still think that Leica hasn't designed the "motor" part to be used with 
film.

Without using the "sensor" part, the "motor" part would hang below the 
camera unprotected... can't see Leica going for that.
