Subject: [Leica] M summicron 35/2 hood

The version of lens you have has a couple of prongs that engage the hood,
and lock in to one position. the 12565 ( etc) are basically round and fit
in any orientation. The reason for the differences? The V4 uses a
rectangular hood. The V3 and before use a round hood.

Does V4 fit V3 and before hoods? Best check on this one, as the answer is
not too obvious. The aperture adjust ring is very different, and possible
interference could preclude the round one from fitting.....

You find out this kind of stuff by making the same mistake.....over and over
again. The purpose of the community is to prevent at least one member from
the same mistake......or did you buy a hood already and it does not fit?
( and therefore you are part of the same mistake we all are....?)

suggests that the hood for M 'cron 35/2
version 4 (which I have) is different
from the prior hoods.....

Does that in fact rule out the other
hoods for this particular version...?
