Yup.

You can expect the number of parallel ATA connectors on mother boards to 
decrease. Intel already has dropped to one parallel ATA connector on its 
newer mother boards. I expect the only reason it still exists is to support 
the optical drives.

So if you are buying HD drives now I recommend you get SATA drives unless 
they just won't work in your system.
