Hi Jim,
I like them both.
#1: A clean photograph unposed and natural looking.

#2 If I have a preference it's this one. Shooting from the shadow side lifts 
them away from being a flat no dimension photograph. Once again illustrating 
how effective light can be when seen and used well, as it creates a 
wonderful 3 D effect.

And obviously makes your subjects stand out stronger.

I know with this kind of shot one wants to see the baby's face, so I'd have 
been "almost at the same angle"   ;-) However.;-) A smidgen of knee bend 
might have improved the angle slightly. Please note "I said might have." ;-)
