Doug, I just commented to a friend off-list that at least it is not January 
1952 and I am not on board the Streamliner City Of San Francisco being 
hauled by Southern Pacific's Alco locomotives over Donner Pass, only to be 
blocked by a monster avalanche and then locked in there for three days by 
the great grandma of all Sierra blizzards. Highway US 40 was also locked 
down for two days; it took a full day before rescue crews could even reach 
the train and a Southern Pacific crane operator was killed when the 
rail-based crane he was operating to remove snow teetered and fell, crushing 
him.

THAT was a snowfall.
