I label using the old PhotoTrack system with 5 numbers for the subject and
category and 5 numbers for the location in the file. For
example: 61949-13214 means Honduras (619), Children (49), on slide page
132 in slot 14. I can find anything in a matter of minutes (as long as I
refiled it after the last use!) The slides and negatives are all mounted
in Gepe mounts and filed in hanging slide pages in lateral filing
cabinets. It's by far the most efficient way I've found of labeling,
storing, and finding slides. It does take some time to get organized but
you save that much time easily when you're trying to find one particular
slide among 500,000!
