My experience with the local Leica distributor has taught me sales reps are a waste of time. Whenever I encounter a significant problem, I send a fax to the Leica CEO in Solms and things resolve rapidly. I am not aware that the 50 ASPH is so hard to obtain - December 2004 was the only month I did not receive any. I was always under the impression you guys in North America pay so much more for your Leica toys because of the 'superior service' offered by Leica USA. Perhaps the latter is a myth after all? Perhaps Leica have by now figured out this lens is too costly to manufacture and they have lost 500 Euro per lens sold? They might have quietly dropped it for good, although we may still see in the official catalogue for the next two years. Perhaps your lens is now on eBay fetching US$16,000? ;-) ;-) Sorry, I couldn't help it! ;-) Seriously - I would write to Roger Horn at Leica USA as well as Leica Solms, and I sincerely you will get your replacement lens very soon. Local reps have little say when it comes to distribution/allocation of goods. Bests, Joseph PS: if all else fails, do give Simons Camera in Montreal a call - there is a good chance they have one unsold in their inventory. This will save you the trouble of getting a lens from across the border. ;-) on 23/1/05 7:37 am, John Collier at jbcollier@shaw.ca wrote: > I actually think it was the Leica area sales rep who perhaps did not do > anything when he claimed he had. > > John Collier > > On 22-Jan-05, at 3:16 PM, Steve Barbour wrote: > >> your dealer is, in a case like this, expected to be your advocate.
