At this point I would put my foot down and demand a replacement lens. 
Tell them that after
waiting 5 months for a repair you have no faith in that particular 
unit. If they balk at replacing it, demand your money back. After that 
I think the choice is yours, if you buy a replacement from a different 
dealer or give up on the idea period.
