Not only does he use DOF judiciously, but by separating the tonality, he further focuses the eye onto the main subject. I try this in my tripod mounted work all the time. You find that if you do not, your shots turn out uninteresting, non-keepers. But I use a hand held meter, and focus my attention onto the scene to make sure it happens ( not always successfully, I might add...) Now to extend this to hand held shooting, it will take me some work to see, and to remember to do this. Really good learning experience.....really good. Frank Filippone red735i@earthlink.net
