Marc,

I've had an Elmar 50 f2.8 old version for years and like it very much. If 
you like the older 
screw mt 50's I think that you'll find the old f2.8 very pleasing. It might 
have a bit more flair 
than the newer version but it has a charm that the newer one lacks. Either 
new or old 
version it is a great lens.
