The issue of viewfinder parallax at the closer (under .7m) focus coupled range only applies to the new Zeiss 28mm lens. The camera viewfinder does not cover the lenses wider than 28mm, so the photographer is using an auxiliary finder (or guessing) and the parallax issue is the same as for previous equipment. The Zeiss 35mm (and 50mm) specifications for close focus are the same as comparable Leica and CV products. The closer focus and VF/RF coupling of the 28mm is an advantage even with VF cut-off. There are AF P&S cameras which use an RF to focus much closer than 0.7m- a factor here is how much accuracy is required (or how much error is acceptable given the DOF and the users standards).
