And it takes advantage of the faster USB2 interface. The jump in performance
with USB2 is huge. I ended up getting a cheap ($20) card to upgrade my USB1
only Mac.

The scanner does work better plugged directly into the USB port on the 
computer.  Be sure that wherever you have allocated to save the files has 
plenty of room for all of the slides in the batch you are scanning.
