Doug,
No words of wisdom needed, these adapters work,the full quality of the Leica 
lenses is still there and metering is accurate too.
So far I've used one on an EOS 500N, a 300D and a 20D.
Ok you're limited to the settings Av and Manual when metering, and you don't 
have AF (which you didn't have anyway on a Leica-R).
You would probably notice metering value discrepancies when using different 
brand lenses anyway, I've noticed this when using Sigma and Tamron on Leicas 
and 
Canons. This bothered me a little at first but it seems to be just a 
numerical 
thing, the metering was always spot-on.
Just one tip, focus wide-open then stop down, meter and shoot.
