Yes.  I leave the camera on Aperture priority.  Focus with it wide open at 
1.4 and the camera sets the speed.  Stop down if you want to and the speed 
adjusts.  You can also choose to under or over expose by a couple of stops 
by turning the exposure wheel and watching the indicator in the viewfinder.

Go ahead and do something foolish ;-)
