Hell, what a question: Most would agree to have the wet and the dry
away from each other. I have two enlargers: the V35 by Leica with
various "heads" is the most versatile and fasted enlarger I've ever
worked with: if you want to enlarge 35mm then get this enlarger FULL
STOP. But because I have other cameras, I went looking for a 5 x4
enlarger: ifffff I had had my way, I'd have got a Durst 1200 with all
its heads: imagine the cost. But I could not find one, so I settled
(happily) on the Devere 504 with colour head and Ilford Multigrade 500H
head.

I have 4 blade easels: these make work easy. I keep one set for the V35
and use different ones with the Devere. To speed up B/W work, I bought
the Splitgrade system: works "perfectly" with the V35 and I'm still
working on it with the Devere/Ilford combo. I can really churn out OK
b/w prints with this set up. I have two other analysers: the Jobo 7000,
which I'm still learning and a Rodenstock one, which I use mainly to
compare exposure settings.

For all processing I use the jobo: ATL3. It has the largest chemical
tanks of any Jobo and is old enough now to be cheap. I have some trays
for toning etc, but all basic film and print processing is done in
drums.

With this set up you only need a kitchen sink. I have exhaust fans over
the Jobo and sink and 2 Ilford amber roof mounted red lights. I have a
sony radio, tuned to an FM transmitter attached to my iPod. This way I
can play hours of music. A Dimplex bar heater with tea towel draped
across the top serves to dry the RC paper quite safely and quickly. Its
a hell of a set up ;-) and I love to escape to it.
