I was surprised by the racial composition. It is usually 90% black and 10% white, but this morning was more like 50-50. I also saw, for the first time, a lot of black male voters who appeared to be in their early 20's. The black voting population in my precinct is usually the 50+ crowd. After I had made my choices, I was going to take another shot, and the older lady volunteer, asked if it was ok for photos to be taken. She asked that I not take any, and I said as far as I knew there was no restriction, but I would not take any more if it made her feel easier. Later she came back and told me that she checked and it was indeed ok to take photos, and invited me to continue with my photographing the area. The key here is to be polite and they will let you work once they are satisfied that it is ok. It is hard to tell for what reason he was arrested... taking pictures in a prohibited place, or disobeying a policeman's order ( no matter how lawful he was being). The cops always have the upper hand... if they tell you to do something and you (even politely ) refuse, they got you for disobeying a policeman's order.
