I often choose the 28mm or sometimes even the 21mm for
portraits. Certainly not really tight portraits, but
those that show a whole person in his/her environment.

The key here is to really think about and check the
background. For example, having a great distance
behind the person/people helps alleviate the extreme
DOF effect of the wide angle, so you do get some
separation. So this is a great way to do portraits in
the vast outdoors.

It's also a very good way to shoot portraits of
couples, depicting them in their relationship to each
other. The supreme optical performance of Leica's
wides make them very suitable for this kind of work,
