History will record Cosina as the photographic
equivalent of The Mouse That Roared.

When they claimed (and paid for) the right to name
their cameras & lenses Voigtlander, Kobayashi & Co.
were stating their serious intention to play in the
major league created almost a century ago by the
Germans.

Now Cosina has manufactured Voigtlanders, Rolleis and
here a Zeiss Ikon, all with lenses carrying the old
matching German names.

Kudos to Zeiss and its related German brands for
taking the Cosina team seriously and making the best
of cooperation with an enthusiastic and
forward-thinking upstart.

The old era of Zeiss - Leitz rivalry was a heady time
for 35mm design.

Now, in these days, how will Leica respond?
